Watching martial arts movies is not the same as stepping onto the mat and training in martial arts.

It’s easy to be the critic on the sidelines:

  • “That was dumb – why did he do that? I would never do that.”
  • “I could have won that fight.”
  • “They suck.”

It’s a hell of a lot harder to step onto the mat, get hit often and fall down often.

However, every martial arts master starts as a white belt. Being a white belt means acknowledging that you don’t know anything and are going to make a lot of mistakes. Admitting that you don’t know anything and be willing to fail often is tough but perhaps a powerful way to be.

Cheers,
